Huawei Pura 80 and Honor eSIM: models, versions and how to check
Does the Huawei Pura 80, Mate 80 Pro, Honor Magic7 Pro, 400 or X9d have eSIM? How China, Russia and global versions differ, and how to check your own phone.
eSIM on the Huawei Pura 80 and on Honor phones depends on the model and the version. As of October 2026, the manufacturers’ spec sheets list eSIM for the international and Russian Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra, and for the global Honor Magic7 Pro, Magic8 Pro, 400 and 400 Pro. The base Pura 80 and the Mate 80 Pro have none, and Honor’s China versions ship with two nano-SIM slots.
Which Honor phones support eSIM? Magic, 400 and X series
Honor supports eSIM on the global versions of its Magic flagships and the Honor 400 lineup, while their China versions list only two nano-SIMs. Here’s what Honor’s spec sheets show as of October 2026.
| Honor model | Global version | China version |
|---|---|---|
| Honor Magic7 Pro | eSIM: two nano-SIMs, nano-SIM + eSIM, or two eSIMs | Two nano-SIMs, no eSIM listed |
| Honor Magic8 Pro | eSIM, same three setups | Two nano-SIMs, no eSIM listed |
| Honor Magic V5 | eSIM, same three setups | Two nano-SIMs, no eSIM listed |
| Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro | Second slot: nano-SIM or eSIM | Two nano-SIMs, no eSIM listed |
Honor’s general eSIM list also includes the Honor 90, 200, 600, 400 Lite, X8c, X9c and X9d, with a caveat: depending on the phone’s country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if the model is listed.
Buying from a reseller or marketplace? Go by the listing for that exact stock: the same Honor model is sold in several versions, and the SIM setup can differ. No explicit “eSIM” line? Check the phone itself before you buy a plan.
Do the Honor X9d and Honor 400 Lite have eSIM?
Don’t count on eSIM in the Honor X9d without checking. It’s on Honor’s general eSIM list, but the X9d spec sheets for the global market and several countries, including the UAE, Malaysia and Kazakhstan, list only nano-SIM slots. Check the unit itself.
The Honor 400 Lite supports eSIM in just one version: according to Honor’s global spec sheet, that’s the European model Amber-N31C1, where the second slot can be set up as an eSIM or a nano-SIM. By the same footnote, other Honor 400 Lite versions don’t support eSIM.
The newer Honor 600 and 600 Lite follow the same pattern: the global Honor 600 lists the second slot as nano-SIM or eSIM, and the Honor 600 Lite has eSIM on the European models Luna-N31A and Luna-N31C.
Does the Huawei Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro or Pura 80 Ultra have eSIM?
According to Huawei’s spec sheets as of October 2026, only the Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra have eSIM in the Pura 80 lineup, and only in the international and Russian versions. The base Pura 80 has no eSIM listed anywhere, and the China versions of the whole lineup don’t mention eSIM.
| Huawei model | International version | Russia version | China version |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pura 80 | No eSIM listed | No eSIM listed | No eSIM listed |
| Pura 80 Pro | Nano-SIM + nano-SIM or eSIM | Same, model LMR-LX9 | No eSIM listed |
| Pura 80 Ultra | eSIM alongside a nano-SIM | eSIM listed, model LMU-LX9 | No eSIM listed |
| Mate 80 Pro | Nano-SIM only, model SGT-LX9 | Nano-SIM only, model SGT-LX9 | eSIM “not supported” |
| Mate X7 | Nano-SIM + nano-SIM or eSIM | Same | No eSIM listed |
Want a Huawei Pura 80 with eSIM? Get the Pro or Ultra in the international or Russian version and match the model code against Huawei’s spec sheet for your country. Huawei’s footnotes add that eSIM availability depends on the country and carrier.
The Pura 90 lineup is similar. Internationally, the Pura 90s Pro Max lists eSIM and the Pura 90s Pro doesn’t. In China, the Pura 90 Pro Max lists eSIM, and the Pura 90 Pro spec sheet says it isn’t supported.
Does the Huawei Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 RS or nova have eSIM?
The Huawei Mate 80 Pro doesn’t have eSIM. Huawei’s China spec sheet says “not supported” in the eSIM row, same as for the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro Max, and the international and Russian spec sheets for model SGT-LX9 list only nano-SIMs.
The exception is the Huawei Mate 80 RS sold in China. According to Huawei, it stores up to two eSIM numbers, with service from China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom. The spec sheet says nothing about foreign carriers’ profiles, so test it with a travel eSIM before your trip.
The nova 15 and nova 15 Pro list no eSIM in their international and Russian spec sheets, while the foldable Mate X7 in those versions takes an eSIM in the second slot.
How to tell a China version from a global or Russian one
The surest way to identify an Honor or Huawei version is the model code, matched against the manufacturer’s spec sheet for your country. On Huawei, EMUI vs. HarmonyOS is a clue too.
- Open Settings, go to “About phone” and find the model code.
- On Huawei, the international and Russian versions in the table above have codes ending in LX9, such as LMR-LX9 for the Pura 80 Pro.
- Check the system version: for the Huawei models in the table, EMUI means an international or Russian version, and HarmonyOS means a China version.
- Open the model’s spec sheet on Honor’s or Huawei’s site for your country and look for an eSIM line.
- Buying secondhand or from abroad? Ask the seller for the model code before you pay.
Do HarmonyOS and the lack of Google get in the way of eSIM?
No, you don’t need Google services to install an eSIM: the profile is added in system settings by scanning a QR code. That matters for Huawei, whose international phones ship without Google services but still let you add an eSIM in EMUI on models whose spec sheets list it.
- Honor with MagicOS: Settings > Mobile network > SIM management > Add eSIM. Besides scanning a QR code, Honor lets you enter the details manually. You’ll find the EID under “About phone” and on the box.
- Huawei with EMUI: Settings > Mobile network > SIM management, then the icon next to SIM 2.
- Huawei with HarmonyOS for China: only certain models have eSIM, and Huawei describes it for Chinese carriers.
Going without Google only limits apps: a profile that installs through a Google Play app won’t work on a Huawei without Google services. A MoreSim QR code arrives in the chat, and you scan it straight from settings.
How to check eSIM on your Honor or Huawei
Check eSIM on the phone itself: a store listing may describe a different version.
- Dial *#06# in the Phone app. If an EID shows up among the numbers, the phone has an eSIM chip.
- Open SIM management in the mobile network settings and look for an option to add an eSIM.
- Type “eSIM” into the settings search.
- Run your model through the compatibility check in the @moresim_bot Telegram bot.
If there’s an EID but no option to add an eSIM, the usual cause is a version built for another market or outdated firmware. More in our guide on how to tell if your phone supports eSIM and our guide to eSIM on Xiaomi, Honor and Huawei, which shows where the option lives in MagicOS and EMUI.
What if your Honor or Huawei doesn’t have eSIM?
No eSIM on your Honor or Huawei? You can still get mobile data on a trip through an eSIM adapter, a local SIM, your home carrier’s roaming, or a hotspot from a phone that has eSIM. Our guide for phones without eSIM walks through each option.
If it does have eSIM, a MoreSim travel plan installs from a QR code as a second line, and your home SIM stays in its slot. The code arrives in the chat about 30 seconds after payment, and the plan starts counting on its first connection in your destination. On the travel eSIM line, turn on data roaming: most travel eSIMs run on a local carrier’s network as roaming, so without it you won’t get data.
MoreSim plans are data-only, with no phone number: you can call over messaging apps where they aren’t restricted, and bank texts keep arriving on your home SIM. You can buy on the website or in the @moresim_bot Telegram bot and pay with Telegram Stars from any country, right in the bot (bank card and SBP payments currently work with cards issued in Russia).
